Special Needs

Patients with special needs are those who due to physical, medical, developmental, or cognitive conditions require special consideration when receiving dental treatment. This can include patients with Autism, Alzheimer's, Down's Syndrome, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries and numerous other conditions or injuries that can make standard dental procedures more difficult. Our doctors have received specialized training in the approach to these patients.

Accommodations for dental patients with special needs may include:

  • An efficient examination and treatment approach so that appointments are shorter in length
  • Knowledge of the medical, physical, mental or behavioral condition in order to better manage the appointment and oral health needs
  • Sedation dentistry to promote patient comfort if needed
  • Caregiver involved in the treatment planning and during procedures to better provide instructions and follow-up care
