Medically Compromised

There are patients with significant underlying medical conditions that require a little modification of treatment in the dental office. Our doctors have been trained to address such situations and will consult with your physicians to discuss your medical history. Such accommodations may involve the length of the appointment, the use of premedication for stress and anxiety reduction, the use of premedication for infection prevention, the selection of a specific local anesthetic and the selection of specific therapeutic drugs used in the course of treatment.

Types of medical complexities that are typically seen include:

  • Hematologic disorders
  • Cardiovascular problems
  • Pulmonary problems
  • Renal problems
  • Hepatic disorders
  • Endocrine disorders
  • Neurologic disorders
  • Patients currently receiving or with a history of chemotherapy or radiation
  • Pregnancy
